Day 311, Scarf 311: This is Halloween

All day I've had the song "This is Halloween" from Nightmare before Christmas running through my head. I guess it is because it is Halloween Day today. It's only 1:22pm and people are all decked out in their costumes. I wish I were going to be doing something fantastic for Halloween but I think going for dinner at my in-laws is about as spooky as it's going to get! :)

Day 310, Scarf 310: Logic is Logical

Today I worked with Steph on our project for our Digital Media in the Arts class. We were very fortunate to have her husband Erik teach us how to use a program called "Logic". At one point during our session with Erik I said, without thinking, "It's so logical!". Hence the name, Logic!

Day 309, Scarf 309: Almost Halloween

This scarf is orange and navy, not black, because it is not quite Halloween yet but at the school today, it was! I went to school as Rainbow Bright and would you believe that a kindergarten student knew who I was? I was so impressed!

Day 308, Scarf 308: The Aftermath

After spending the night at Catherine's and getting only 5 or 6 hours of sleep I found myself completely exhausted today. I made it through the day - that's all I can say!

Day 307, Scarf 307: Border Line

Today after work Catherine and I went shopping in the states. It was a lovely trip that resulted in 4 pairs of shoes and a bag for $100. Not bad!

Day 306, Scarf 306: Bee, Bee, Bumblebee

This yellow and black scarf makes me think of the song that my graduate supervisor, Peter, taught my grade 1s and 2s. The kids loved it because at the end they get to shout! This is how it goes...

Bee, bee, bumblebee
Stung a bear upon his knee
Stung a bear upon his snout
Then the bear he gave a shout!

AHHHH!

Day 304, Scarf 304: Tile Slice

This afternoon my mom, dad and grandma came by the new house while Max and I were working on it. My dad was absolutely wonderful and helped me to pry up all of the cream and pink (who seriously chooses these colours?) tiles on the rise of the stairs. It was a lovely team effort. Unfortunately, I pulled on one of the tiles with my gloved hands and managed to slice through my gloves and my middle finger on my right hand. Don't worry, I survived by my finger is a little achy now. Luckily dad finished off the job. Thanks for all of your help, Dad! I was so glad you were able to get those tiles out and I know that you put some blood into it too!

Day 303, Scarf 303: Robin Hood

Tonight Max and I went to Shannon and Mike's house for chili and to watch the new Robin Hood movie which actually turned out to be the prequel to Robin Hood. It was a great movie and I managed to knit 3 extra scarves for the evening! Those 3 scarves will go towards day 365, 364, and 363. I think that the coat drive I will be donating all of the scarves at is on the 10th of December and I need to have all of my scarves done by then!

Day 302, Scarf 302: Yarn Bomber

Today was the BC Artists in Healthcare Society AGM. The president, Linda (my mother-in-law), honoured me by talking about the Purls of Warmth project and presented me with a book full of ideas for what I should do once I've knitted all 365 scarves - Yarn Bombing!!

Day 301, Scarf 301: From Blue to Gray

This morning the weather was quite lovely for our roofers to be out and working on the house. This evening; however, it seems that things may be turning to gray...will our roof get done?

Day 300, Scarf 300: 300 Day!

I can't believe that I have knitted 300 scarves! I just can't get over that number. How did the time go so quickly?

Day 299, Scarf 299: Tiger Tail

This one just made me think of the Tiger Tail ice cream I used to get when my brother and I would go to Canada Games pool as kids...at least, I think it was Canada Games...

Day 298, Scarf 298: Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Well, I couldn't help it. I made a huge batch of cookies on the weekend and froze them into ziploc bags - 6 cookies in each. Today I took one of the bags to work thinking that I would only eat 2 cookies...I ate all of them! Just call me the cookie monster!

Day 297, Scarf 297: Drywall Dust

The light coloured yarn in this scarf represents all of the drywall dust that I ended up inhaling during "clean up" after major renovations yesterday. My throat and sinuses are not impressed with the dusty air quality.

Day 296, Scarf 296: Our House is a Very, Very, Very Blue House!

Today the painters arrived at our house! The blue was a little shocking at first (as in the above photo) but by the time the second coat was on I was in love.

Day 295, Scarf 295: Not so Sunny Disposition

Today I went back to work after being off sick for a couple of days. My sunny disposition was not so sunny as I was still feeling sick. By lunchtime I was ready for my bed.

Day 294, Scard 294: Home on a Gloomy Day

Still at home sick with the flu. The weather; however, has finally figured out that it should be gloomy when I'm stuck at home! Hopefully I will feel 100% tomorrow and the weather will be sunny!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Day 293, Scarf 293: Sunny when I'm Sick

How is it that the weather is always beautiful and sunny when I am stuck indoors with the flu?

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Day 292, Scarf 292: Half Day Headache

I went to work today fully knowing that I was not well enough to be there. I went to support my choir - there was going to be an assembly at 11:00. The choir did well and I went home sick at lunch. Thank goodness for the lovely Ms. Murphy, our school secretary, who was able to find me a sub!

Day 291, Scarf 291: Rollin', rollin', rollin'. Keep my family rollin'

I have an amazing family. Tonight, at our Thanksgiving dinner, I brought all of my yarn with me to roll into smaller balls. Well, they were all helping me again! To make things even more wonderful, my cousin Diana gave me a bag of yarn and my mother-in-law Linda brought 2 bags of yarn from Darcy! How did I get so lucky?

Day 290, Scarf 290: Alaina and Andrew's Wedding

Today was Alaina and Andrew's wedding day at SFU. It was a lovely wedding and I had a fabulous time dancing and goofing around with Kelly my friend from high school that I hadn't seen in, dare I say it, 11 years!

Friday, October 8, 2010

Day 288, Scarf 288: Crew Mom

Today a crew came to work on our house. I was informed by Max that 10:00 was snack time so I made sure to bake a fresh batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for the guys to keep morale up! I now think of myself as "crew mom".

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Day 287, Scarf 287: Max's lost scarf

This scarf reminds me of the orange and gray linen scarf that Max lost while we were on our trip in Cairo. It was his favourite scarf that I had given him one Christmas and now it is lost forever...well, now it lives on in the colours of this scarf.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Day 286, Scarf 286: Unteal we meet again

This evening we went out for our last dinner with our friend Diana before she leaves for Australia...well, our last dinner with just us and her. We are going to miss her greatly.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Day 285, Scarf 285: Death by Orange

This scarf reminds me of the marvelous gelato down the street from me called "Death by Mango". It is mango flavoured with a ripple of raspberry...the colour of this scarf makes me think "Death by Orange".

Day 281, Scarf 281: Homeowner!

That's right folks! Max and I are finally homeowners!
